Co-Living by the Back Door in Grangegorman, Phibsborough and Dominick Street

DCC has granted permission for up to 1300 student beds to be converted to student/ co-living use between Grangegorman, Phibsborough and Dominick Street.

My take

It's unacceptable to use the planning system like this. Zero evidence was provided as to efforts made to pitch their price at an affordable level for students- many of these units were unaffordable pre-covid and remain so now.

Also the planning application for three of the developments specifies that the accommodation will be used for "short term key workers and other professionals."

Cllr Declan Meenagh and I made observations to the original planning applications and are currently considering appealing to An Bord Pleanála.
