Proposed Build-to-Rent Development on Cross Guns Bridge

Marie submitted the below observation to An Bord Pleanála in relation to the unsustainable Build-to-Rent development that is proposed at Cross Guns Bridge

After the old bakery site lying vacant for so many years, it's important to say that we are fully supportive of housing being developed on the site, but it's equally important that we get it right if we want to offer people decent homes and sustainable communities.

The development is not compatible with the amenity of the Royal Canal, and totally out of keeping with the character of the area.

Added to the poor quality of design; the unsuitable, overbearing height of up to 12 storeys; and the inappropriate use of the build-to-rent model on the site; it is clear that this development would not be of benefit, and as such must be rejected in its current form.
