New Development for Clonliffe College Site

clonliffe

The planned redevelopment of the Clonliffe College site will contain
📍a new residential development by Hines
📍a new hotel to be developed by Croke Park
📍two new GAA pitches
📍remedial works to the Red House on the site
📍along with restoring full access to the Tolka river walk.

On July 9th, the broader masterplan for the site will be published and this will be really important in understanding what type of much needed housing is planned for the area.

Last weekend I met Croke Park Director Peter McKenna, Architect Shane Santry and Community liaison Julieanne Savage to view the plans for the proposed new hotel. The proposed 200 bed hotel itself is situated at the junction of Clonliffe Road and Jones’ Road beside the stadium, will be owned by the GAA and will be operated by Dalata.

Overall, I think the hotel will be a positive development for Clonliffe road and the wider Drumcondra area.

I’m conscious there has a been a large number of planning applications for hotels and apart hotels in the Dublin Central area over recent months, but not in this area. Before Covid 19 struck, there were at least 10 planning applications in the Dublin Central area before Dublin City council the first three months of the year but they are largely based along the quays or in the north west inner city

Croke Park hosted a webinar on the hotel proposals last Thursday. It had a huge amount of useful information, including timelines for delivery, and pictures of what the finished hotel will look like. For anybody who wasn’t able to catch it live, you can watch it back at the link ⬇️⬇️⬇️
